April showers bring May… mud? Wait, that’s not the saying, is it? April showers might bring blooms come May, but it also brings a ton of mud on the trail. For those of us in New England, we’re no strangers to rainy springs. Spring is always welcomed after the dreary days of winter but with it comes ticks, mosquitos, allergies, and (you guessed it) mud! Most parents like to bring their kids out into nature to get them away from screens. And, rightly so. There has been study after study about the negative effects of screen time and growing brains. But what would you say if I told you that not onlyshouldyou bring your phone on an outdoor adventure with your kids but that it’s essential?
Now that the Winter Solstice has come and gone, the days are getting longer but the temperatures are still hovering around freezing. There’s at least a few more months of cold weather and potential snowstorms ahead of us so there’s no sense in staying indoors. But anyone who has children in their lives knows that getting kids outside can be a real chore during this season.
