Waiting can be hard! Milo the moose makes new friends and gains skills to help him practice patience while he waits for his first set of antlers.
Written by a local Mama here in Maine and beautifully illustrated by her aunt. This story is perfect for helping establish new routines and talk through those tricky stages where patience is precious.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Growing up in Freeport and now raising her family in Kittery, Maine, Michelle Zamarripa has been lucky to always have nature in her back yard. The forest, lakes, rivers and ocean have been a playground her whole life. Since becoming a mother, Michelle has found that nature can calm high or anxious energy and provoke independent play and creativity.
Worth The Wait is Michelle's first book. She wanted to share her love of Maine by including fun facts about some of the animals that live year-round here as well as provide reminders on how to practice patience. Parenthood can take patience to a whole new level! This book is as much of a reminder to parents as it is a lesson to children. The character names are a nod to some places in Maine, Otto (Otter Cliff, MDI), Wyn (Winter Harbor), Poppy (Popham Beach) all teach Milo (Maine) methods to help practice patience.
ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR:
Michelle's aunt, Carol Alie Niles, grew up in NH, then went off to school in Portland, ME. She then lived out on Peaks Island before settling down in Pownal, ME to raise her kids with the same respect of nature shared with Michelle. Carol used acrylics to capture the realistic expressions of Maine’s flora and fauna in this children’s book.
